Going Greek

As a member of a Greek organization, you get to experience a different side of college. Greeks hold themselves to the values of responsibility, tradition, leadership, friendship and character. You have the opportunity to take advantage of Greek life at Wichita State. We hope you’ll join us!

Once you’ve made the decision to go Greek, you have a couple of options to choose from. You can participate in Formal Recruitment or Continuous Open Bidding.

Formal Recruitment

Formal Recruitment is held at the beginning of the fall semester at Wichita State and is the best way for a potential new member (PNM) to experience each Greek chapter. The PNM (you!) will receive information about each chapter’s benefits and requirements as well as get the chance to chat with members of all of WSU’s sororities. To participate in Formal Recruitment 2010, click here and sign up! Formal Recruitment dates are September 8-13, 2010.

Continuous Open Bidding

Continuous Open Bidding (COB) is the alternative, less formal way to join a chapter. COB begins immediately after Formal Recruitment ends and lasts until a chapter reaches its cap of 60 members. Through COB, a PNM may be more selective about which chapters she chooses to visit. But, on the flip side, a PNM faces less opportunity to join a chapter because the chapters may have reached their caps during formal recruitment, leaving no room to recruit openly.

Benefits of Going Greek

The benefits of being Greek can be seen all over this Web site. Greeks experience leadership conferences and opportunities, job networking, athletics, social events and much, much more. Greeks expect a lot, as well as give a lot, from themselves. If you want to make a name for yourself at WSU, the Greek system is the way to go!
